This weekend was the neighborhood's annual Broomball Party. There's a big pond behind our house that gets cleared off for skating, and a broomball game. The kids usually skate for a while, but when all of the adults are ready the ice is cleared for the broomball game to begin. Those that don't participate in the game (that would be me) keep each other company by the bonfire and the keg. I would guess that the temperature outside was around 15 degrees with a windchill of around 5 degrees. It was nice and toasty by the bonfire! This is also the time of year when the neighbors bring down their Christmas trees to throw on the fire. As you can see, it creates a pretty sizable flame!
After the sun goes down, and the wind starts to whip a little harder, the party moves inside to a neighbor's bar. Inside was the first annual Chili Cook-Off. This year's winner, Kaye, will have her name engraved on a new plaque that will be used for future Broomball Parties and Chili Cook-Offs.
It was a beautiful day, and another great opportunity to party with our friends and neighbors!
