Since I'm starting to run out of time before this baby arrives, I've been working on a lot of projects for the nursery. My uncle is working on building a daybed platform for the nursery, so I thought that I would put together an upholstered headboard to hang on the wall behind it. I took three separate boards and added foam, batting, and some fabric. Then I made buttons out of the same fabric and pulled them through pre-drilled holes in the boards. After the daybed platform is in the room, I will hang the finished headboard on the wall.
Another project that I've recently finished is resting on the headboard in the picture above. I had some leftover fabric that coordinated with the bedding in the room, so I decided to make use of it. I bought some embroidery hoops from the craft store, cut the fabric to size, and secured the fabric inside the hoops. The striped fabric is from an extra curtain panel I wouldn't be using. The giraffe and the lamb were originally part of a valance that I was unable to use due to the small size. I cut out the two animals, added some Heat'n Bond and ironed them to some green fabric that I had. I think they look much better on the green fabric than the white valance they were originally attached to. The project was simple and took very little time to complete. After we know the final placement of the daybed and headboard, I will hang the hoops on the wall.
In other news, I only have 50 days left until this baby is due! Holy crap! I still have a few projects left, and then the nursery will be ready.
